US VFW POST 549
Welcome to Tucson’s legendary VFW Post 549, proudly serving the veteran community since 1921. As one of the oldest and most respected VFW Posts in Arizona, Post 549 is more than a gathering place — it’s a living tribute to American patriotism, service, and community leadership. Leaving us with a Legacy of Loyalty. Post 549 was founded shortly after World War I, Post 549 has stood the test of time. From its early days as the Joe C. Salazar Post to its present-day location on East Old Spanish Trail, this post has been a cornerstone for local veterans and their families for over a century.
In 1947, it became the first VFW post in the U.S. to establish a dedicated veterans’ cemetery, a tradition of honor that continues today.
THE HUB FOR VETERANS & COMMUNITY
Today, Post 549 operates from a modern facility in the heart of Tucson. The post offers:
-
Weekly member gatherings & public events
-
Patriotic youth programs (Voice of Democracy, Patriot Pen)
-
Veteran outreach, ceremonies, and community service
-
Local fundraising for causes like Toys for Tots
It’s a place where stories are shared, friendships are forged, and American values are celebrated daily.
PROUDLY SERVING AMERICAN PREMIUM VODKA
